Service
Therapy for social anxiety
For adults who dread being watched, judged or put on the spot, and who plan around it.
We build a ladder of the situations you dread, from a short hello to speaking up in a meeting, and climb it one rung at a time, learning what actually happens at each.
Who it helps
Dread before meetings, calls and gatherings
Replaying conversations afterward
Turning down invitations or opportunities

What sessions look like
- 01
Step 1: Name the fear
We spell out what you expect people to think, and what you do to prevent it.
- 02
Step 2: Build the ladder
You rank situations from easy to hard, in your own words.
- 03
Step 3: Practice in session
We rehearse or role-play a rung together, then repeat it between sessions.
- 04
Step 4: Review and step up
We compare what you predicted with what happened, and choose the next rung.
The details
The method
Cognitive behavioral therapy with exposure. I explain the method, what it asks of you and what it can stir up before we start.
What this is not
It is not a personality makeover or a script for small talk, and I do not prescribe medication.
Length and pace
Sessions are 50 minutes, and many people start weekly. I set the pace with you and cannot promise a number of sessions.
How it is paid
You pay at the end of each session, or I send a monthly receipt for you to submit to your plan. Fees, receipts and the Good Faith Estimate are on the fees page.
How fees work
Three questions
Do I have to speak in front of a group?
Only if you want to, and only when you choose to. Every rung is agreed in advance, and you can go slower.
Can we do sessions with my camera off?
Yes, for the early sessions if you prefer. We plan together when to turn it on.
What if I freeze up in session?
That is normal, and we use it. We slow down, and you tell me what you notice.
Ready to talk about social anxiety?
Write to me with a few general lines about what you would like to work on. I reply within two working days.
